Abstract
Son La is a mountainous province in the North West of Vietnam. With favourable natural conditions, the agriculture and forestry industry is a dominant sector and still accounts for a large proportion of the economic structure of the province. Therefore, Son La province has been receiving development assistance through programs and projects with large-scale public investment to support the development of the agriculture and forestry industry. However, despite significant achievements, there are still several concerns related to the management of public investment in the agriculture and forestry sector. First, it is not necessary to implement several projects under the evaluation of the beneficiaries. Second, in the process of implementing the project, there is still a slow disbursement. Furthermore, several projects have been not fully implemented according to the schedule. Finally, overdue residues of the projects have not been evicted. This paper proposes a number of solutions to strengthen the management of public investment in the agriculture and forestry sector in Son La province in the coming time.
