Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the impact of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies on employee engagement in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Hanoi. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining qualitative techniques (focus group discussions and in-depth interviews) with quantitative analysis (a questionnaire survey of 258 employees in Hanoi). The qualitative phase was conducted to explore employees’ practical experiences and refine the measurement scales, while the quantitative phase involved data processing using SPSS 22.0 through descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s Alpha reliability testing, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), and multiple linear regression to test the proposed hypotheses. The results indicate that among the three dimensions of DEI, equity and inclusion exert a positive and statistically significant influence on employee engagement, whereas diversity does not show a significant effect. Based on these findings, the study proposes several recommendations for enterprises in implementing DEI policies to enhance employee engagement, thereby contributing to a sustainable work environment and improving the competitiveness of SMEs in Hanoi.
