THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL LOAFING AND SOCIAL COMPENSATION ON TEAM EFFECTIVENESS – A STUDY AT SERVICE ENTERPRISES IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Abstract
This study aims to examine the relationship between social loafing, social compensation, and team effectiveness in advertising and event management service companies. Data were collected from 245 employees working in these companies. The findings reveal that social loafing has a negative impact on team effectiveness, resulting in reduced productivity, work quality, and cooperation among team members. In contrast, social compensation has a positive effect, not only directly enhancing team effectiveness but also indirectly through its relationship with social loafing. These results emphasize the importance of addressing social loafing and fostering a spirit of cooperation within teams to optimize work outcomes. Therefore, the study suggests solutions such as creating a positive work environment, organizing team-building activities, and providing teamwork skill training to encourage collaboration and improve productivity in advertising and event management service companies.
