Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the impact of leadership styles on social loafing, particularly transformational leadership and transactional leadership. The study employed a survey method to collect data from 200 employees working in various companies in Ho Chi Minh City. The research findings revealed that both transformational leadership and transactional leadership were effective in reducing social loafing. Therefore, there is no absolute good or bad leadership style, but rather it depends on the organization’s context and employees’ needs to select a suitable leadership style. However, transformational leadership and transactional leadership can be utilized as useful tools to reduce social loafing, improve work performance, and motivate employees to actively engage in their work.
