FACTORS AFFECTING INTERNAL MIGRATION IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract
Labor migration in developing countries has been intensively studied by scholars in recent years. This paper aims to review major theories of labor migration and literature on factors affecting internal migration in the context of developing countries. The paper shows that factors determining internal migration can be divided into three groups: macro- , micro- and meso- factors. Hence, some major implications on managing labor migrants are proposed from the perspectives of developing countries.
