Abstract
The article aims to provide solutions to improve the coverage of universal health insurance in Thuan Chau district, Son La province. The author uses research methods such as descriptive statistics, statistical grouping, comparison, and meta-analysis to assess the current situation and analyze factors affecting the development of universal health insurance in Thuan Chau district, Son La province in the period from 2019 to 2021. The results show that universal health insurance in Thuan Chau district, Son La province is making good progress (in 2021, the rate of universal health insurance coverage reaches 97.8%), investment in facilities and human resources to meet the demand of medical examination and treatment for people, especially those with health insurance cards, in order to ensure social security, contribute to socio-economic development in the locality. The inspection and examination of health insurance in the area has discovered many cases of not paying or evading health insurance premiums from 2019 to 2021, and recovered over 2 billion VND of debt owed to health insurance; collected nearly 200 million VND from the health insurance fund for medical examination and treatment expenses that were not prescribed at some medical facilities in the district. At the same time, it points out its advantages, limitations and causes in the field of universal health insurance in Thuan Chau district. Accordingly, three groups of solutions are proposed to develop universal health insurance in Thuan Chau district, Son La province in the coming time.
