Abstract
This study assesses the impact of factors from banks, industries and macroeconomics on the profitability of commercial banks listed on Vietnam stock market in 2016 – 2019 through linear regression models. The research results show that the scale of operations, operating cost and the number of transactions on the stock market of each commercial bank, and the inflation of the economy have positive impacts on the profitability of commercial banks listed on Vietnam stock market. Factors that have negative impacts on the profitability of commercial banks listed on Vietnam stock market are loans, equity, and ownership of commercial banks. From these findings, the article proposes a number of solutions to improve the profitability of joint stock commercial banks listed on Vietnam stock market in the coming time.
