THE MEDIATING ROLE OF LEARNING MOTIVATION IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-EFFICACY, MANAGER SUPPORT AND TRANSFER INTENTION AT WORK

Abstract
This study aims to build and test a model on the mediating role of motivation to learn in the relationship between self-efficacy, manager support and the transfer intention to apply knowledge and skills to work, for the participants who are individuals working in enterprises. The model is based on TPB theory as an analytical framework, the mixed method is used in the study, in which focus discussion aims to adjust the scale and test the structural model. The data for the study is a snow balling with n=305 respondents collected from individuals working in enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City. The test results show that 4 out of 5 hypotheses have specific statistical significance: self- efficacy and manager support have a positive effect on learning motivation and learning motivation also has a positive effect on transfer intention. Manager support has a positive effect on transfer intention, but self- efficacy has no effect on transfer intention. Finally, some managerial implications are proposed to enhance the effectiveness of training for business managers.
