Abstract
This study focuses on assessing the status of energy poverty and its impacts on household expenditure for health and education, using data from the Vietnam Household Living Standards Survey (VHLSS) in 2020. The results reveal significant geographical disparities in energy poverty across Vietnam regions. By applying the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) model between energy-poor and non-energy-poor households, the study demonstrates that energy poverty negatively affects health and education expenditures, thereby undermining household well-being. The findings emphasize the fundamental role of access to clean energy in enhancing social welfare and reducing health and education inequalities. This study contributes scientific evidences for designing integrated policies that link the energy with health and education sectors in the context of sustainable development.
