Abstract
This paper analyzes the management of corporate credit for local economic development in Cho Moi Commune, Thai Nguyen Province, at the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) – Bac Kan Branch, during the period 2022–2024. The study combines secondary data from the bank’s credit reports with primary data collected through a survey of 38 credit officers. Descriptive statistics, comparative methods, and SWOT analysis were employed to clarify the current credit management practices and influencing factors. The findings reveal that BIDV Bac Kan Branch achieved positive outcomes, with corporate credit outstanding balances increasing from VND 3,026 billion in 2022 to VND 4,164 billion in 2024, contributing to the promotion of production, services, and job creation in Cho Moi Commune, Thai Nguyen Province. However, several limitations remain in corporate credit management at the branch, particularly in planning, post-loan monitoring, and inter-agency coordination. The novelty and contribution of this study lie in proposing a three-dimensional solution model: (i) solutions from BIDV Bac Kan Branch; (ii) solutions from corporate clients; and (iii) supportive solutions from the State Bank of Vietnam (Region 5) and local authorities. This integrated approach helps to link corporate credit management with local economic development toward sustainability and inclusiveness.
