Abstract
This study focuses on exploring the relationship between authoritarian leadership, collective apathy, and retaliatory turnover, conducted in the context of advertising and event organizing service enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City. With 245 employees currently working in this sector participating in the survey, the results indicate that authoritarian leadership has a direct impact on both collective apathy and retaliatory turnover. At the same time, collective apathy partially mediates this relationship. The findings reflect the reality of advertising and event organizing companies—industries characterized by high pressure and constant creative demands—suggesting that an authoritarian leadership style can seriously harm employees’ morale and commitment. Therefore, the study emphasizes the necessity of fostering a positive work environment, featuring flexible leadership that listens and provides support, in order to reduce retaliatory turnover behaviors and enhance performance in these service-oriented businesses.
