Abstract
The study focuses on the group of households cultivating Vải sticky rice in the communes of Phú Lương district, specifically Hop Thanh, On Lương, and Phu Ly. The research employed a rapid rural appraisal method involving 90 households and 20 management officials to collect data, while also combining descriptive statistical analysis, statistical grouping, and comparative methods to clarify the research objectives. The results indicate that in 2022, the area, yield, productivity, and output of Vải sticky rice in Phú Lương district reached 96,1 hectares; 47,22 quintals/hectare; and 453,78 tons. By 2024, these indicators are projected to increase to 121,3 hectares; 50,00 quintals/hectare; and 606.50 tons. The area of Vai sticky rice production per household varies according to economic components. The material cost for 1 sao of Vải sticky rice is 1.614,370 VND, corresponding to 46,67% of the total cost. The factors that most significantly affect the sustainable development of Vải sticky rice are the consumption market (97,78%) and the scale of production land (95,56%), followed by policy factors, the transfer of scientific and technological advancements, and the market. The consumption market for Vải sticky rice mainly exists within the province, and Vải sticky rice is sold through three main channels, with wholesale sales to traders, agents, and stores accounting for 81,05%. The production value of Vải sticky rice averages 4.019,40 thousand VND per sao. The GO/IC value averages 6,64 times. The VA/IC value is 5,54 times, and the MI/IC value is 4,75 times. In the near future, the locality will also implement specific solutions to develop the consumption market for Vải sticky rice products, enhance agricultural extension work, implement policies to support production development, plan production areas, and invest in infrastructure to serve production.
