Abstract
Vietnam is known to the world as a country with many advantages in tea production and export. For many consecutive years, Vietnamese tea has always been in the top 10 largest tea exporting countries in the world in terms of output. Some tea products, especially green tea, have occupied a certain position in traditional markets such as Pakistan, Taiwan, Russia, China, etc.; however, Vietnamese tea is facing many difficulties when competing with competitors in the European, American, and Japanese markets due to low quality and insufficient variety, thus not meeting consumer tastes. With a trade flow approach, the article uses a gravity model to analyze factors that affect Vietnam’s tea export turnover in the period 2007-2022. The results show that in addition to the basic factors of the model such as economic sizes, economic openness and geographical distance, the capacity to export tea of the importing country is considered to be a new and important factor that has a positive impact on Vietnam’s tea export activities.
