Abstract
State management of environmental protection is one of the fundamental tasks of governments at all levels. This study has been conducted in coastal localities in the North Central and Central Coast regions to identify the current practices as well as existing management problems at the local level. Statistical methods have been utilized with survey data from managers in 12 communes and wards of six districts and cities in three provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Nam and Phu Yen representing the region. The research results have indicated that more attention has been paid to management, gradually shifting from a passive mechanism to proactively preventing, controlling and monitoring pollution. Notably, environmental protection management is increasingly receiving the consensus and participation of the community; however, there have been many difficulties and challenges that need to be solved to meet the innovation goals of the industry. Thereby, the paper has proposed practical solutions for stakeholders, contributing to promoting local management activities in alignment with the requirements of sustainable development.
