Abstract
Vietnam is a country with many advantages in exporting textiles and garments with export turnover of $44 billion in 2022, accounting for nearly 12% of the country’s GDP. Vietnamese textile products have been present in 66 countries, in which the main export focus is on developed countries such as the US, Japan, Korea, etc. The comparative advantage in exporting this commodity of Vietnam has been achieved at a high level, as shown by the revealed comparative advantage (RCA) which is always greater than 2.5 over the years in the period 2000-2021. However, the rate of localization as well as value added in textile exports is still very low. In order to strengthen Vietnam’s textile and garment exports, and to make good use of the opportunities brought by free trade agreements (FTA), developing stable raw material areas, investing in modern production technology and improving the qualifications of workers are urgent issues that need to be solved synchronously in the coming time.
