Abstract
The study examines the causal relationship between globalization, FDI, and energy consumption on CO2 emissions in Vietnam during the period 1990–2020. Several quantitative methods are used to carry out this study, such as multiple regression, quantile regression, and the Granger causality test. The results show a two-way causal relationship between energy consumption and globalization on CO2 emissions at different quantiles. There is a unidirectional relationship between FDI and CO2 emissions. Based on the consistent empirical findings, we suggest some significant implications for environmental improvement and strategies to attract FDI into Vietnam.
