Abstract
The coastal line of Quang Ninh province has complicated natural conditions. In the process of development, together with many challenges in the planning of economic development and environmental protection, there have been opportunities and challenges for national defense. Therefore, it is necessary to research on functional areas of national defense and socio-economic development in order to promote the advantages and potential of the territory while minimizing adverse impacts on the environment and national defense. Based on a comprehensive assessment of geographic conditions, the article analyzes the effects of the current development of the territory in order to initially establish criteria for the establishment of an economic, environmental, and national defense zone.
