Abstract
The study was carried out to compare financial performance and point out factors affecting the financial efficiency of 205 extensive crab-shrimp farming households in Kien Giang and Bac Lieu provinces. Research results show that extensive crab-shrimp farming households have high efficiency, with an average cost of 1,795 thousand VND/1000m2, average revenue of 5,452 thousand VND/1000m2 and average profit of about 3,657 thousand VND/1000m2. Farmers in Kien Giang province have lower financial efficiency than those in Bac Lieu province; the profit difference is 130 thousand VND/1000m2. The average value of the financial ratios shows that both provinces are financially efficient. The factors affecting the profitability of extensive crab-shrimp farmers include the times of stocking crabs, the times of stocking shrimps, the ratio of crabs in a bucket to total crabs, and the size of crab breeds.
