Abstract
Today, the important issue for commercial banks is how to effectively manage credit risks. Because a strong credit risk management system not only helps to reduce costs and maximize profits, but also contributes to creating competitive advantages among banks. Therefore, the credit risk management system at Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank – Thai Nguyen Branch has been applied to corporate customers. The current situation of credit risk management at Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank – Thai Nguyen Branch in the period of 2018 – 2020 shows that the bank still has some limitations such as: lack of close management in the receiving and appraisal stages, a large concentration of outstanding loans on a few categories and customers, evaluation based on non-financial criteria for newly established customers. From those limitations, the authors offer some solutions and recommendations to improve the effectiveness of credit risk management for corporate customers in the next period.
