Abstract
The island city of Phu Quoc is a famous tourist destination of Vietnam. Over the years, the city’s tourism has attained certain achievements, but still has got certain limitations. The study analyzes the current tourism situation of Phu Quoc city in the period from 2018 to 2020 to figure out both the achievements and the limitations. The research uses quantitative analysis with the Internal Factor Evaluation Matrix (IFE); External Factor Evaluation Matrix (EFE). In addition, the study also uses SWOT matrix, Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix research methods, and surveys tourism experts and stakeholders. The research results point out 4 strategies to develop tourism in the island city, including the investment strategy that focuses on the development of tourism products and infrastructure; the differentiation strategy that combines with diversifying tourism products; the strategy for green and sustainable tourism development; the strategy for human resource training and development. Acccordingly, solutions are proposed to implement the tourism business strategy of the island city.
