Abstract
Over the past ten years, the economic growth rate of Thai Nguyen province has been quite high. The increase in labor productivity is considered to be an important indicator reflecting the quality of economic growth. This study used a shift-share analysis approach with Thai Nguyen Statistical Yearbook data to analyze the quality of Thai Nguyen province’s labor productivity. The results showed that the within-industry growth effect has played a dominant role in the province’s quality of labor productivity growth. We also found that the quality of labor productivity growth in the province has decreased in recent years. The province’s labor productivity growth is mostly based on productivity growth in the industry and construction sector; however, the growth of labor productivity in this sector in recent years tends to decrease. Based on the analysis results, the study has proposed recommendations to improve the quality of labor productivity growth in the province.
