Abstracts
Developing community tourism is a new trend of the tourist industry in the regions having naturally favourable conditions. Ha Giang is a province located in the Northern mountainous region which is favoured by nature with majestic scenery and many famous destinations for visitors. In addition, this is also the province in which the indigenous culture still remains intact. Developing tourism has been considered as a priority of Ha Giang in social economic development, especially in the northern areas of the province with the geological plateau which has been recognized as a heritage by UNESCO. In the Western region, although tourism has not really developed, it also has a great potential for developing community tourism. This paper aims to assess the opportunities, challenges and potential for tourism development of this region, and to suggest some solutions for Ha Giang province to develop community tourism.
