Abstract
Seedless persimmon production is one of the strengths of Ba Be District, Bac Kan Province. Ba Be has recently developed a new area of persimmon cultivation, concentrating on intensive cultivation to increase productivity towards VietGAP and sustainable development. In order to assess the economic efficiency in seedless persimmon production in Ba Be district, the authors collected primary and secondary data on local persimmon production. Primary data was collected from 98 households producing persimmons under VietGAP standards and from 137 households not applying the standards. Methods like descriptive statistics, comparison, time series analysis were applied in the study. The results show that production of persimmons under VietGAP standards brings higher economic efficiency than the non-standard production method. After assessing the achievements and shortcomings, the study has identified some basic solutions to improve the economic efficiency of seedless persimmon production in Ba Be as follows: Foster awareness of households about safe persimmon production; organize scientific production; enhance the application of scientific and technical advances; improve harvesting and preservation; promote product processing and consumption process.
