Abstract
Dividend policy is important, affecting the interests of shareholders, financial management, and attracting investment capital for businesses. It reflects the prospects and attractiveness of a company’s shares. Dividend policy is influenced by many factors such as profitability, financial policy in the upcoming years, company size, etc. This article focuses on researching the influence of factors belonging to the characteristics of the company on its dividend policy. The study uses the panel estimation method on the data set of 17 commercial banks listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange from 2018 to 2022. The results of the empirical research show that the growth rate and dividends of the previous year have a clear impact on a dividend policy, while other factors such as financial leverage, profitability, liquidity, and P/E ratio do not have an impact on a dividend policy.
