DETECTING SIGNS OF FINANCIAL CRISIS OF BUSINESSES THROUGH ANALYSIS OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AT VIETNAM CONSTRUCTION AND IMPORT – EXPORT JOINT STOCK CORPORATION (VINACONEX)

Abstract
The post-Covid-19 period is particularly difficult for most businesses in Vietnam and in the world, especially for import-export, construction and real estate businesses such as Vietnam construction and import-export joint stock corporation (Vinaconex). This is also the period when many businesses fall into bankruptcy or stop operating. The analysis and early detection of financial crisis signs will help businesses promptly avoid potential financial risks that may occur in the future. In this article, the author applies Edward Altman’s Z-score model and William Beaver’s method of evaluating each financial indicator to analyze and detect signs of financial crisis through analysis of financial statements in Vinaconex Corporation. Research results show that Vinaconex has many signs of financial crisis, financial situation is in danger zone and at high risk of bankruptcy. From the above research results, the author has proposed some effective solutions to help the Corporation get out of the financial crisis.
