35 YEARS ATTRACTING FDI INTO VIETNAM: THE SITUATION AND PROBLEMS IN THE NEW CONTEXT

Abstract

The article summarizes the current situation of FDI attraction in nearly 35 years since the first FDI project started in Vietnam (in 1988), assesses the contribution of the FDI sector to Vietnam's economy (GDP growth, technology transfer, job creation, labor productivity, export value, supporting industry development, etc.), and evaluates its limitations and causes. The writers recommend several solutions to effectively attract FDI into Vietnam in the new context.
